Cubs - 8 - 10.5 years old

Welcome to the Cubs section page

There are loads of fun things that you can do as a Cub Scout. You will get a chance to try lots of different activities like swimming, music, exploring, computing and collecting. If you do them properly you will get a badge which you can wear on your uniform.

Cub Scouts also get to go on trips and days out, to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm. Sometimes you will be able to go camping with the rest of your Pack. This will mean you sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities.

Cub Scouts borrows a great deal of its 'system' from the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. The Cubs meet in a group called a Pack (as in a pack of wolves). The leader of the Cub Scout section is Akela and other leaders may take Jungle Book names such as Baloo, Chil, Shere Khan etc.

Moving on to Scouts

Cubs moving to scouts is something we take great care in dealing with, this due to the age of the child and scouts being after Cubs.

In most cases a cub will either be doing their entrance exams or starting first year depending on age. We try to move cubs on to Scouts after Christmas to avoid interrupting exams or them settling into a new school.

If you would like your son / daughter to move up to scouts at a certain time, please speak to us and we can try and arrange this.
